Well, since this is my first actual blog let me first welcome any visitors to my site. We can talk about photography in general however my personal interest is in film photography and the cameras use in it. Yesterday I purchased yet another film camera, this time a Ricoh "500" rangefinder. Actually my second "500", the first one is not completely operational currently. It resembles an older Contax type camera and maybe some other imported rangefinders from that era more or less. It is not small but too big. The focus uses 2 little tabs or wings on either side of the lens barrel, which you turn right or left while looking through the viewfinder and match the two images together until correct focus is achieved. It winds the film from a bottom lever moving to the left allowing the shooter to keep looking through the viewfinder while advancing the film. Shutter speeds from "b" to 1/500 sec. It has a feature that will select the correct aperture or shutter speed for you according to you setting the light number on a wheel around the lens barrel. It has not yet arrived and when it does rest assured it will get some action and photos put into the site.
